The Farmers, who are protesting against the New farm laws, are vandalizing Reliance Jio towers in Punjab. As many as 176 towers have been damaged since Saturday. With these fresh attacks, total number of damaged telecom tower sites reached to 1,411.
Incidents of snapping of power lines to attempts to axe the towers have been reported from various parts of Punjab. The Telecom towers damaged were mostly belongs to Jio. Some of the towers are common access infrastructure of telecom industry.
The attacks have impacted telecom services. Operators are struggling to maintain services. The Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh had on Friday appealed to protesting farmers not to cause inconvenience to the Public with such actions. But his appeal seems to have failed to deter new attacks.
More than 175 Signal transmitting sites had been vandalised following his his statement.
