The Polit Bureau of Telugu Desam Party has decided to boycott Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections which are planned to be held on April 8 in Andhra Pradesh. The PB meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. PB is the highest decision making body in Telugu Desam Party.
Addressing a press conference after the PB meeting, Naidu commented that the New State Election Commissioner Nilam Sahaney has become a rubber stamp. “How the ministers revealed polling dates before the announcement of SEC?”, he questioned. He also questioned the SEC for giving notification without consulting the political parties.
Naidu alleged that all decisions are being taken by YSRC leaders. He asserted that his party don’t want to be a part of this ‘undemocratic’ process.
‘I have never Boycotted elections before in my entire 40-year political career. In the present circumstances, there is no other option but to boycott elections’
